Speak the Unspeakable

“Should I tell my schoolmates/colleagues?”
“Mom, Dad: I love you and I’m gay!”
“Who pays for the meal? Adam or Steve?”

This meaningful yet fun workshop aims to help young adults to come to terms with their sexual orientation and to prepare them for disclosing their identities to loved ones. Friends and family of LGBT members are also invited.

Date: 16 April 2011 (Saturday)

Time: 11:00am – 4:00pm (Registration starts at 10.45am)

11.00am – 12.00noon Panel Discussion / Experience Sharing Session

Guest Speakers: Heihei Yau, Mr Gay Hong Kong 2010-2011; Bryan Chan, Organiser for Hong Kong Lesbian & Gay Film Festival; Eleanor Cheung, Founder for hkQueerCampus

12.00 – 12.30pm Light Lunch

12.30 – 3.00pm Interactive activities on practical tips and advice about ‘coming out’ to colleagues/schoolmates/friends and family members

3.00 – 4.00pm Speed Dating Experience organised by CEDARS (HKU)

4.00pm Conclusion

Speakers and trainers from The Boys’ & Girls’ Club Association, CEDARS (HKU) and the LGBT community will share their knowledge and their experiences on “coming out” in different occasions through a panel discussion and interactive activities. Lunch and refreshment will also be provided. Free of charge. This workshop will be conducted in Cantonese with English interpretation.
